Portugal, Algarve
One year and plus some we spent in beautiful Algarve, Portugal. Blessed to have a great friend that trusted us to look after her two angels, Milo (Stafford Terrier) and Lucy (Great Dane). During the time we were there we were able to explore the whole coastline of the famous Algarve. Following are some of our adventures, local and distant.
Back in Burgau
Traveled from Valencia (Spain) Back to Burgau (Algarves) Portugal (July 2020) to help out a friend in need. Initially, we were not sure how long we need to stay. As it turned out it was nine glorious months.
Alvor
We never had to go far for some of the most beautiful beaches and rugged coastline in the Algarve. Alvor is a quiet village close to Portimao in the Algarve. You will find plenty of parking close to Alvor beach where you will discover a pathway leading up to the top of the cliffs. Here you will experience some of the best views in Portugal. And if you are feeling peckish, there is another pathway leading back down to Canico beach restaurant. Canico beach is a must-swim and enjoy.
Portimao
There are so many great little towns scattered along the southern coast of Portugal, difficult to sort out the best. Maybe there is no best, they all have their own special attractions, and Portimao is no exception. Here you will find a casino, a lovely boardwalk with restaurants, a marina, and an old fort.
Luz
It would be unfair to call Luz Little Briton, but it could be. You can also tell when you visit the supermarket by what is on the shelves. Hinze baked beans, ditto salad cream, English pork sausages, and pork pies to name a few. So, would have to agree that there is a high probability that the population is sprinkled with the UK gentry. Apart from that, they do have great beach and cliff walks and beachside cafes, bars, and restaurants.
Sagres
The township of Sagres is famous for a number of reasons. This famous fortress was built in the 13th century to protect the township from North African raiders. Famous names associated with the fort were Henry the navigator and English navigator Frances Drake. Today it attracts surfers from all over the world which can create monster waves because of its rugged coastline picking up western swell from the Atlantic and the surrounding headlands. I Should mention that Portugal produces beer also called Sagres.
